About this book
Mara stole faces for a living—until a girl asked her to find her mother.
Trapped inside a theatre mirror for more than a century, Mara survives on the expressions people leave behind. Taking a whole face offers something far more tempting: a chance to step outside the glass and live another person’s life.
She has done it before.
Now nineteen-year-old Iris arrives carrying a photograph of the woman Mara once harmed. Her mother has disappeared, and the knocking behind the mirror suggests she is closer than either of them knows.
As they search the shuttered theatre, Mara discovers chains hidden behind the frames, a collector preparing a terrible exchange, and a grinning creature whose frightening appearance conceals a desperate act of protection.
Saving Iris’s mother will force Mara to confront what she stole. But with freedom within reach, her hunger begins offering easier solutions.
The Hunger Inside the Mirror is the fourth standalone story in the Halloween Collection, a haunting tale of stolen identity, dangerous temptation, and the difficult work of making amends.
